Visiting a DC Cannabis Dispensary From California

The main difference
California has adult-use stores. DC’s licensed stores are medical only, so your driver’s license alone won’t get you served.
If you have a California medical cannabis card
California is on ABCA’s reciprocity list. Bring your California registration and an unexpired government photo ID.
If you don't
Most Californians shop adult-use and don’t hold a medical card. In that case, apply online for a temporary DC registration before your trip. It’s digital and usable straight away.
Don't fly with it
Cannabis is illegal under federal law, which covers airports and flights. Don’t bring products from California, and don’t take DC purchases home.
