First-Time DC Dispensary Visit Checklist
Visiting a licensed cannabis dispensary in Washington DC for the first time? A little preparation helps. Confirm eligibility, review registration requirements, check store hours and browse the live menu before leaving home or your hotel.
What to bring
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID and the registration or recognized cannabis registration credentials required for your circumstances. If you need to register, use the current MyABCA portal.
At the store
Review product labels, manufacturer information and current availability. Ask about formats and packaging rather than relying on claims about guaranteed effects. Do not drive while impaired or consume cannabis in prohibited public places. For a longer walkthrough, read your first trip to a DC dispensary.
Before you come
- Get your registration. Our registration guide explains how.
- Bring an unexpired government photo ID.
- Look at the live menu so you have an idea of what’s available.
- Check our hours: Sunday to Wednesday 11 AM to 7 PM, Thursday to Saturday 11 AM to 9 PM.
When you arrive
We check your ID and registration. After that you can browse and talk to a member of the team, or collect an order you placed online.
Questions worth asking
- How do I read this label?
- What’s the THC content per piece or per package?
- How do these two products differ?
- What sizes does this come in?
We can explain products and labels. We can’t give health advice.
After your visit
Keep products sealed until you’re home, store them away from children and pets, and don’t use cannabis in public or before driving.
