Guide to Choosing Cannabis Flower in Washington DC
Strain names are fun, but they tell you less than the label does. Here’s what to compare when you’re choosing flower.
Cannabinoid content
The label lists THC and CBD percentages from lab testing. A higher THC number means a more potent product, which isn’t the same as a better one.
Terpenes
Terpenes are the aromatic compounds that give each cultivar its smell and flavor. When the producer lists them, they’re a good way to find flower you’ll enjoy.
Package size and price
Compare the price per gram across sizes. Larger packages often cost less per gram.
Producer
Licensed producers differ in how they grow, cure and pack. If you find one you like, look for their other cultivars.
Packaging date
Where a packaging or harvest date is shown, fresher is generally better.
